Update, Jan. 9, 2014: The song also rose to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
We know you’ve heard it. Driving home from work or to work, if you’ve tuned into a Top 40 radio station, you have heard FirstCom composer Paul Harrington’s harmonica. Yes, the three-and-a-half minute line he laid down one day is now heard everywhere in rapper Pitbull’s “Timber” featuring Ke$ha – the #1 single on iTunes!
We are proud to also say another FirstCom composer helped the chart-topping single come to life. Nick Seeley of Breed Music (and our OneMusic library) recorded local harmonica ace! According to KERA News, Seeley’s job was to transform “San Francisco Bay” by harmonica master Lee Oskar, so he called in Harrington to play a faster, live version. And the rest is history.
“Timber” is now also #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, taking the spot from Eminem’s “The Monster” (MMLP2)!
